Project activity Training Course for Youth Workers happened from 1st until 8th December 2017 in Vrnjacka banja, Serbia and it included 10 partner organizations from 10 different countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Greece, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia).
This TC was follow up project which aimed to build capacities of youth workers on how to work with mixed ability groups, providing them with different theatre tools and methods and contemporary dance techniques (body expression and improvisation). Project invited youth workers (social leaders, trainers, facilitators, teachers/educators and teaching assistants) willing to become active in the fields of theatre and dance and gain new information/practice in self discovering, self orienting, team working, social inclusion, performance making, contact improvisation… Project directly involved people with disabilities and it had an aim of promoting their mobility opportunities.
Training Course as a result delivered an outcome in the form of the Theatre Performance “Tools for Social Development” which took place in local Cinema of Vrnjacka banja city on 6th December 2017. Theatre Performance was implemented as presentation of previously conducted eight days artistic learning process. During the TC participants were developing their professional capacities and independent implementation of learned tools and methods. As well as discovering themselves, stepping out from comfort zone and reflecting personal both limits and characteristics. Focus of the Training Course was on the professional, social, cultural, personal upgrading of each participant and by including Theatre Performance participants could learn another tool available for implementation as a concept in their profesional work.
Video of the Theatre Performance is available on our YouTube channel:

Together with Theatre Performance, another important outcome of the project was the Manual “Tools for Social Development”. It is designed as a Tool kit for youth workers as well as everyone interested and willing to start working, facilitating or participating in the artistic processes with mixed ability groups. It reflects the artistic process done during the project “Tools for Social Development Volume II” – Training Course for Youth Workers. Using this Manual it is possible for a youth worker to have an insight on how to put in practice artistic workshops using theatre methods and contemporary dance techniques as tools when working with youth with and without disabilities. Additionally, it gives to a youth worker practical guidelines and basic theory in order to gain motivation, ideas, learn new approaches for developing professional experience, as well as get to know better the field of theatre and contemporary dance as powerful artistic tools. Finally, Manual gives set of workshops in which all participants can equally engage, fully contribute and work on both professional and personal development. We would like to emphasize that Manual “Tools for Social Development” does not include entire workshops segments implemented during the Training Course for Youth Workers.
The Manual is available and free for download using this link

Follow Up of the project was implementation of Local Workshops. Participants of the TC were developing and implementing their own workshops within their local communities. Participants were guided and coordinated by the trainer’s team on how to develop, create and implement similar workshops by using all the experience, skills and knowledge acquired during the training course. This means that participants were empowered in two levels: professionally and personally. Participants got information about participatory practice and how to be multipliers of the methodologies used during the TC.

Project “Tools for Social Development-Volume II” is co-funded by the Erasmus plus program under KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices – Capacity Building in the field of Youth.
